Traffic Signals Targeted for Upgrade

Steve Burger

You’re invited to learn about a plan to modernize nine traffic signals in Evansville.

The city will conduct a public information meeting about the modernization plan next Wednesday at McCullough Library.

Five of the nine signals to be modernized are along S. Green River Road, three more are on the East Side, and one is on the North Side at First Avenue and Mill Road.

In a release, the city of Evansville said the plan calls for relocating center curb-mounted pedestrian signals, which are frequently damaged, to new overhead spans.

The plan also includes overhead vehicle detection devices and countdown-type pedestrian signals.

Work is scheduled to begin early next year.

The informational meeting at McCullough Library is set for next Wednesday at 6 p.m.
