A hotel near Evansville Regional Airport that abruptly closed over the weekend will become an assisted living facility.
In a press release issued Saturday night, Omninet Holding said the Holiday Inn on U.S. 41 will make the change.
The news came a day after the hotel unexpectedly shut down, and sent its guests to another hotel.
The release said many of the hotel’s employees will be offered jobs during the transition, saying the assisted living facility will employ more people than the hotel.
Omninet didn’t say when the new facility would open.
The facility originally housed a Ramada Inn.
The Vanderburgh County Assessor’s Office website indicates Omninet Hotel LP obtained the property in December 2010 for more than $5 million.
