Flu Bug Closes Two School Districts

National Foundation for Infectious Diseases

A second Tri-State school district has canceled classes due to the flu.

In a tweet, the Henderson County School District said all Henderson County schools and child care locations will be closed Thursday and Friday.

The school corporation said the closings are due to widespread illness across the district.

The action follows a similar move by the North Posey school district, where students are being asked to stay home Thursday and Friday, and to treat the days as “virtual learning days.”

While the schools are closed, the district said they will be “thoroughly cleaned.”

Officials remind parents that cold and flu are most contagious during the first 48 hours.

They say students should stay home if they have symptoms including a fever of 100-degrees or higher, vomiting, diarrhea, chills, congestion, or cough.
