A Conversation about David Rice

Friday morning, the current president of USI and a former president shared their memories of Dr. David Rice and talked about his legacy.

Dr. Ron Rochon, current president of the University of Southern Indiana, and Dr. Linda L. M. Bennett, president emerita came to the WNIN studios early Friday morning as the university prepared for a memorial service for its founding president, Dr. David Rice. 

Rice died Wednesday at his home in York, Pennsylvania at the age of 90. He served as president of USI for 27 years, beginning when the school split from Indiana State University in 1985. 

According to the university, here are the details of the visitation and memorial service for Dr. Rice:

Visitation:

Friday, January 24, from 3-5pm in Carter Hall, University Center West on the USI campus. At 5pm there will be a prayer vigil when friends and family will share memories of Dr. Rice.

Funeral Services:

Saturday, January 25, at 2pm in Carter Hall with visitation beginning at 1pm.
