A former tourism official in Atlantic City has been named head of the Evansville Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The Convention and Visitors board has voted to hire Jim Wood as President and CEO.
In a release, the bureau said Wood comes to Evansville with extensive managerial and sales experience in Atlantic City, Louisville, Providence, and Tampa, as well as with Marriott hotels.
In the release, Wood said he’s “thrilled” to be named President and CEO of the local CVB.
He called Evansville a “dynamic community” that’s “poised to grow.”Wood cited the city’s central location, convention and gaming facilities, its sports market, and its position at Indiana’s 3rd largest city.
