An anonymous donor is boosting the Salvation Army this weekend.

The Salvation Army in Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties has received an anonymous gift of $10,000 to match coins and bills dropped in the red kettles on Saturday.

In a press release, the organization said the donation will hopefully spur additional gifts.

This year’s red kettle goal is $225,000.

Major Mark Turner said donations have passed $90,000 or about 40% of goal.

The organization said the lateness of Thanksgiving this year has reduced the number of available bell-ringing days.
