City Council Recount Dropped

File

There will be no recount in a tight Evansville City Council race.

Vanderburgh County Republican Chairman Wayne Parke and GOP candidate Natalie Rascher agreed there were more than 40 issues found in absentee balloting in the November city election.

But in a release, Rascher said a recount would not allow for those ballots to be properly challenged under current Indiana law.

Rascher lost the Second Ward race to incumbent Democrat Missy Mosby by 31 votes on Election Night.

When the totals were later certified by the Election Board, both candidates received additional votes, and Mosby's margin narrowed to 19 votes.

In accepting the defeat, Rascher said she plans to continue serving the community as a private citizen and looks forward to her next endeavor, “whatever it may be."
