The polls are open until 6:00 p.m. on this Election Day.

Municipal elections are being held across Indiana, with the mayor’s race in Evansville considered a forgone conclusion.

Republican Lloyd Winnecke does not have a Democratic opponent in today’s (Tues) election. He’s challenged by Libertarian Bart Gadau and independent Steven Ary.

Without a mayoral candidate, Democrats have been focusing on the city council races. The Dems currently control the nine-member council 5-to-3, with one independent who’s a former Republican.

In the at-large races, incumbent Democrat Jonathan Weaver is seeking re-election. He’s joined by Democratic newcomers Kaitlin Moore Morley and Gina Robinson Ungar.

They face Republicans Ron Beane, David Christmas, and Alex Schmitt – all newcomers.

If you vote a straight GOP or Democratic ticket, you’ll still need to vote for the at-large candidates separately.

All six City Council ward seats are contested, but Democrat City Clerk Laura Brown Windhorst is unopposed.

The polls are open until 6:00 p.m., when WNIN FM begins its election night coverage.
