Half Pot Winner Comes Forward, Stays Anonymous

WSNC

A winner has come forward in the Fall Festival’s Half Pot.

The West Side Nut Club says the winner contacted officials last week and wishes to remain anonymous.

The lucky festival patron will split more than $1.2 million with Nut Club, walking away with more than $600,000.

The winning ticket was sold on the final day of the week-long festival on W. Franklin St.

During a news conference Monday afternoon, the winner’s legal counsel, Keith Vonderahe, said two people cut in line in front of the winner, so they wanted to say “thanks” to them.

Vonderahe said the winner lives in Evansville and has the right to remain anonymous under Indiana law.

It was the first year for the festival’s half-pot, and Nut Club officials say they never expected it to reach $1.2 million.

Officials say the portion that goes to the club will be used to offset the costs of hosting the festival and the rest will be donated to local charities.
