A water main break has prompted a boil advisory for parst of western Vanderburgh County. WNIN’s John Gibson has details…
The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility says the main broke under a bridge on Posey County Line Road, south of Broadway, resulting in the loss of water service to 200-to-300 homes, including the Willow Creek Subdivision.
In a tweet, the utility said crews isolated and restored service to all but a handful of homes Thursday morning.
The boil advisory is in effect for customers on Posey Co. Line Rd. from the Lloyd Expressway south to Old Mt. Vernon Rd.; Summit Dr. from Posey Co. Line Rd. east to the dead end -- including Wilderness Ct.; Strueh-Hendricks Rd. from Posey Co. Line Rd. east to Broadway Ave. -- including Willow Creek Subdivision and McDowell Rd; Broadway from Posey Co. Line Rd. east to 10,200 Broadway Ave.; and Old Mt. Vernon Rd. from W. Franklin Rd west to Posey Co. Line Rd.
Customers in the advisory area should boil tap water for at least 5 minutes before using it for cooking or drinking.
The utility hopes to lift the advisory within 48 hours, so long as tests show no contamination.
