The month of September was a historically warm one in Evansville.
The National Weather Service says the temperature reached at least 80 degrees on all 30 days of September.
The weather service says that’s never happened in the 120-plus years of record-keeping.
The agency says Evansville came close in 1939, when 27 of the 30 days hit 80 degrees or higher.
October is underway with record heat, but cooler, more seasonal temperatures are expected by Friday.
September was also a very dry month.
The weather service says there are small chances for rain Sunday and Monday.
