Historic renovation projects in Evansville and Ferdinand have received a financial boost from the state.
Indiana Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch says AP Development LLC was awarded $100,000 to help renovate the former YMCA building in Downtown Evansville.
The plan calls for converting the 106-year-old building into 62 units of affordable housing called the Central Lofts.
The Y recently moved to a new facility on Court Street.
Among other projects receiving Historic Renovation grants is the Peter Muller House in Ferdinand.
More than $11,000 was granted to Ann Knebel to preserve the house that was built between 1865 and 1870.
It’s been transformed into a mixed-use property with half being occupied by a nonprofit organization, Traditional Arts Today. The other half is residential.
In a news release, Crouch said maintaining Indiana’s historic fabric and character is “vital to growing the state’s economy and attracting talent.”
