Wind Storm Knocks Out Power, WNIN

Vectren has restored power to thousands of customers following Sunday night’s wind storm.

A line of strong storms blew though the Evansville area, downing tree limbs and power lines, and knocking WNIN FM off the air.

Our signal was restored Monday morning. Our live stream was not affected.

Vectren reported more than 4600 customers without power Sunday night.

Crews worked through the night and reduced the number of outages to about 100 by midday Monday.

The gusty winds sent tree limbs, construction signs and barrels, and other debris onto roadways, but the National Weather Service recorded less than a fifth-of-an-inch of rain at Evansville Regional Airport.

Forecasters are predicting 20-to-30 percent chances of showers and thunderstorms each day this week – including Independence Day.
