"Parks And Rec" Cast Member, A Dozen Bands To Play ParksFest

A cast member from the TV show Parks and Recreation will emcee and perform at Evansville’s ParksFest.

Jay Jackson portrayed news anchor Perd Hapley in the NBC comedy series set in the fictional Indiana town of Pawnee.

Jackson will help host the 5th annual ParksFest Oct. 5 in Garvin Park.

He’ll also perform some jazz crooner songs.

The free, all-day event features 12 bands, food trucks, a beer garden, an activities area for kids, music workshops, and more.

Bands at this year’s event include Los Coast, described as an alternative-soul band from Austin, Texas; The Minks, a psychedelic blues group from Nashville; and Dekar Baker & Good Company, led by an Evansville native with other local musical standouts.

Other bands at the fest will include Plateau Below, Corduroy Orbison, and Warren Nicholson.

In a news release, ParksFest Co-Director Nathan Jochum emphasized the festival’s musical diversity as a key attraction.
