Elderly Hoosiers Honored For Service And Commitment

FSSA

23 senior citizens have received the 2019 Golden Hoosier Award.

Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration’s Division of Aging announced the award winners.

They include Sister Jane Michele McClure of Evansville, Robert Lacer of Newburgh, Stanley Madison of Lyles Station, Pat Koch (cook) of Santa Claus, and Ethylgene Josh and Phyllis Stewart, both of Vincennes.

The annual award honors elderly residents for service and commitment to the state of Indiana.

In a news release, Lt. Governor Crouch said the state received more than 80 submissions and it was “difficult to narrow it down to 23 exceptional senior citizens.”

Crouch said the state couldn’t have done it without the partnerships of AARP Indiana and the Eugene and Marylin Glick Indiana History Center.
