Vectren is providing thousands of energy-efficient light bulbs to needy families.
In a news release, the utility company says it’s sent more than 50,000 LED bulbs to sixteen food pantries in Evansville, Chandler, Boonville, Newburgh, Mt. Vernon and New Harmony.
The 4-packs of LED bulbs are to be distributed to patrons through the summer.
Vectren’s Chief Business Officer Lynnae Wilson says the program is designed to help low-income families take simple steps to lower their energy costs.
The company, which is now owned by Texas-based CenterPoint Energy, says it’s committed to helping customers conserve energy and save money.
Vectren says it also offers discounts on LED bulbs at area retailers like Home Depot, Wal-Mart, and Batteries + Bulbs.
