Settlement Reached In Harassment Suit Against UE Theatre Professor

The former student suing the University of Evansville for sexual harassment has reached a settlement with the school.

It’s almost the end to a lawsuit that began last August, when Alexis Seay filed a complaint in federal court accusing theatre professor Scott Lank of racial and sexual harassment.

We don’t have many details about the settlement.

The university declined to comment, and Seay’s lawyer didn’t return our calls.

But in recently filed court documents, the university did admit that Seay was not the first student to go to UE with concerns about Lank’s behavior.

Seay, who’s black, says Lank made sexually suggestive comments in class, grabbed her hair, and wrote her a role in a play she was supposed to perform nude.

Lank denied the allegations. He was fired by the university in December.

The parties in the case now have until the end of the month to finalize the settlement.

Then, Seay’s attorney will move to dismiss the suit.
