Vanderburgh Ranks Low In Health

A new survey ranks Vanderburgh County as one of the least healthy counties in Indiana. 

A new report from County Health Rankings and Roadmaps places Vanderburgh 90th of 92 counties when it comes to quality of life.

Overall health outcomes for Vanderburgh County are a bit better – ranking 81st out of the 92 counties.

The survey says up to 20-percent of the county’s population is in fair or poor health.

The data shows 34-percent of local residents are obese and 22-percent of adults are smokers.

Vanderburgh is near the middle of the pack when it comes to length of life.

Posey, Warrick, and Gibson Counties all scored higher in overall health outcomes.

Posey was 15th, Warrick 22nd, and Gibson 42nd.

Hamilton County topped the list in overall health incomes.
