Snow And Ice Headed Our Way

The drive home could be tricky Friday evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of the Tri-State. It’s in effect through 3 a.m. Saturday.

Forecasters say a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain will move into the Evansville area this (Fri) afternoon and evening.

They say 1 to 3 inches of snow could accumulate.

The weather service says driving conditions will   deteriorate this evening, with bridges, elevated surfaces, and untreated roadways the first to freeze.

And forecasters remind us that even a very small amount of ice can produce very dangerous driving conditions.

Meantime, many area rivers are above flood stage – closing a number of low-lying roads.

The Ohio River at Evansville is expected to crest this weekend at about 44 feet – 2 feet above flood level.
