Berry Reports Strong Earnings

One of Evansville’s largest employers is reporting solid earnings.

Berry Global says net sales were up 11 percent to $2 billion in the first quarter of 2019, compared to the same period a year ago.

In a news release, the Evansville-based plastics maker reported organic sales growth of 3 percent, operating income up 8 percent, and adjusted net income shares up 15 percent.

Berry Chairman and CEO Tom Salmon (SAM-ehn) said the company’s Consumer Packaging division delivered strong organic sales growth of 9 percent in the quarter, led by foodservice products.

Salmon said the company’s Health, Hygiene & Specialties division recorded strong quarterly sales dollar growth of 22 percent.

Berry recently acquired two companies, Clopay and Laddawn.
