Evansville Regional Airport is reporting the highest number of passengers in more than a decade.
In a news release, officials say more than 235,000 passengers departed Evansville Regional in 2018 – up more than 5,000 from 2017.
That’s a nearly seven percent increase.
The airport’s new executive director, Nate Hahn, said in the second quarter of last year alone, EVV achieved a 10 percent growth in traffic,
The airport says average fares have dropped, positioning Evansville as one of the fastest growing and most competitive-priced airports in the region.
The airport was also renovated last year with improvements including a dedicated TSA PreCheck lane and new post-security amenity rooms.
The local airport provides nonstop service to five hubs – Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas and Detroit -- on the three legacy airlines: American, Delta, and United.
Allegiant offers flights to Orlando and Destin, Florida.
