I-69 Bridge Hearings To Focus On Tolls

You have two opportunities next week to weigh-in on tolling for an I-69 bridge over the Ohio River.

Last month, Indiana and Kentucky transportation officials chose the central corridor – east of the Twin Bridges -- as its preferred route for the new four-lane bridge.

One of the existing Twin Bridges would remain open for two-way local traffic between Evansville and Henderson.

But one issue yet to be decided is tolling.

The I-69 ORX Team has said tolls will have to be charged on the new interstate bridge, but it wants public input on whether a toll should be charged on the remaining Twin Bridge.

Officials says tolls are required to help pay for the new span and to maintain the old one.

A hearing is planned Monday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 at Henderson Community College’s Preston Arts Center.

A second hearing is set for the same hours Tuesday evening at Old National Events Plaza in Downtown Evansville.
