Authorities have identified the truck driver who died when a semi ran off Interstate 64 and crashed onto Highway 41 early Monday.
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says deputies and Scott Township firefighters responded to the scene at about 2 a.m.
They determined the truck had been traveling east on I-64 when the vehicle left the roadway, traveled down an embankment, turned onto its side, and came to rest in the southbound lanes of U.S. 41.
Officers closed both northbound and southbound lanes of 41 for several hours while Scott Township crews extricated the driver from the cab.
The truck driver -- 48-year-old Kenneth White of Shelbyville, Kentucky -- was pronounced dead at the scene.
It’s not clear why White’s truck ran off I-64.
The semi apparently didn’t hit any vehicles on 41.
An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.
White was driving a truck leased from Rush Trucking.
