Pride Picnic celebrates new generation

Jon Klotz

The Tri-State Alliance hosted the annual Evansville Pride Picnic on Sunday, June 10, in celebration of Pride Month. Organizers and attendees flowed in and out of the Burdette Park Bishea Shelter, learning and giving and being themselves.

Groups in attendance included Brentwood Springs, Spectrum, Aerotek, Stonewall Democrats, Matthew 25 AIDS Services, the Albion Fellows Bacon Center and the Transgender Support Group.

Local artists performed live music during the day, and in the evening, picnickers enjoyed a family-friendly drag show.

One of the drag performers, Jayden Licious, spent the day distributing backpacks full of school supplies and hygiene items to kids.

Many in attendance focused on the LGBTQ+ and ally youth. They supported their children, raised awareness about issues facing transgender youth in local schools and more.
