Public Education Foundation Presents Children's Performance

The local community has the chance to attend a children’s musical adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast" at 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 8 at the Academy for Innovative Studies - Diamond.

This year, the Public Education Foundation worked with Compass Creative Dramatics and collaborated with The Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana and the George L. Mesker Music Trust to present the play.

In one week, the young participants audition, rehearse and act in the final performance. In that time, they also learn about theater, make new friends and build confidence.

Some of the children's performance actors go on to perform in the PEF Summer Musical as they get older, PEF Associate Director Kate Reibel said. That flagship production, "Hello, Dolly!," is scheduled for July 12 through July 15 in the Aiken Theatre at the Old National Events Plaza.

Both productions serve as part of PEF's mission to support the arts and innovative forms of education for all area students.
