The Ohio River is finally falling below flood stage at Evansville, and the Red Cross is mounting a major cleanup.
The Southern Indiana chapter says it will provide area residents with free cleanup kits, rakes, shovels, trash bags, water, and other supplies.
In a news release, the Red Cross said four box trucks will drive along the Ohio River On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, providing supplies in five counties – Vanderburgh, Posey, Spencer, Perry, and Crawford.
The organization said supplies will also be available at three specific locations: the Red Cross office at the Lloyd and Stockwell in Evansville, at the Grandview Town Hall in Spencer County, and at 615 Main St. in Tell City.
People in need of cleanup supplies and water can also call the Red Cross 24/7 at 888-684-1441.
The Red Cross also plans to deliver free lunches over the weekend so residents can take a break and eat a meal.
Executive Director Theo Boots said “the Red Cross will be there” to help flood victims.
