Progress is reported in a lawsuit filed by WNIN against a long-time neighbor.
Tri-State Public Media is suing Pearl Laundry and Cleaners, which has operated inside a large brick building on NW Third St. in Downtown Evansville for more than a century.
Over the years, the operation has produced a plume of underground contamination that reaches into WNIN’s property under the Carpenter House.
WNIN is attempting to sell the historic home as part of the move to a new location at Main and Riverside.
WNIN Attorney Mike Schopmeyer says steps are being taken to resolve the contamination issue…
("Since we filed suit we've had communication with legal counsel, which is the first step in securing a settlement that will establish a path to remediate the contamination and obtain some document of finality that shows the property's been cleaned up.)
Pearl Laundry’s downtown operation has stopped since Nu-Look Incorporated of Henderson bought Pearl’s business license.
Pearl customers will be directed to a new location near Vogel and Burkhardt roads.
Nu-Look is not buying the downtown facility, but another individual is reportedly interested in purchasing the property.
