Interstate 69 on Evansville’s east side is going to contain a lot of orange barrels this spring and summer.

Beginning Friday,Indiana Department of Transportation  contractors will be working on several bridges from the Olmstead Road crossing of Interstate 69 to Covert Avenue.

A release from INDOT says they will try to restrict only one lane in one direction at a time, but that both directions could have lane closures as needed for crews paving and patching overhead bridge decks.   Once that stretch of road is complete, they will move north of the Lynch Road interchange.

The work will go on into the fall for the entire stretch of I-69 from I-64 to U.S. Highway 41. Other operations include patching and sealing at several interchanges including Morgan Avenue, Boonville-New Harmony Road and Interstate 64.   Motorists can learn about highway work zones and other traffic alerts at indot.carsprogram.org, 1-800-261-ROAD (7623) or 511 from a mobile phone.
