Storms, cooler temps on the way

Spring-like temperatures may bring spring-like storms to the Tri-State.

Forecasters say a strong cold front will create a “slight risk” for severe storms Friday afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service says the risk of severe weather will be mainly over southwest Indiana and the Pennyrile region of western Kentucky.

Forecasters say the primary hazard will be damaging straight-line winds, but large hail and isolated tornadoes can’t be ruled out.

The cold front will put an end to the unseasonably warm temperatures, with the thermometer expected to reach just the 40’s over the weekend.

The area could see its first sub-freezing temperature in weeks Sunday morning.

Temperatures are expected to bounce back to the 50’s on Monday and the 60’s on Tuesday.
