Deputy injured, suspect arrested after crash

VCSO

A Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s deputy was injured when an SUV rammed into his cruiser during a pursuit.

A news release from the sheriff’s office says deputies responded to a harassment complaint in the 200 block of Brookview Drive at about 9:00 Monday night.

They say a man identified as 32-year-old Jeremiah Jones of Fort Branch was refusing to leave his sister’s front door.

The release says Jones had left the home by the time officers arrived, but returned in an SUV and sped away toward a cul-de-sac.

Deputies say Jones spun the SUV though a yard, accelerated, and intentionally rammed a pursuing sheriff’s cruiser. A deputy inside the cruiser suffered a leg laceration.

The SUV also hit a parked car.

The sheriff’s office says Jones was held at gunpoint and then struggled with deputies, before being tasered twice, subdued, and handcuffed.

He faces numerous charges.
