Evv woman killed, man seriously hurt in wrong-way crash

VCSO

An Evansville woman is dead after a head-on crash on Diamond Avenue.

It happened Tuesday afternoon on Diamond, just east of St. Joe Avenue.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says a pickup truck driven by 47-year-old Kevin Austin of Evansville crossed the center line and crashed into an SUV.

The driver of the SUV, 51-year-old Kimberly Redden of Evansville, died at the scene. Firefighters freed Austin from his truck and he was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
It’s not clear why Austin’s truck had moved into the wrong lanes.

The sheriff’s office says Austin consented to a post-accident blood draw, which is required by state law.

The crash blocked traffic on Diamond Avenue for more than an hour.
