The Indiana Economic Development Corporation is pitching-in to help renovate the Evansville airport.
The IEDC is contributing $5 million in Regional Cities money for the $12.3 million project.
The renovation was among projects regional officials presented to the state. Southwest Indiana and two other regions were each awarded $42 million.
A news release from the IEDC says the 30-year-old airport terminal needs infrastructure updates to remain “functional and competitive.”
The renovation includes reconfiguring the TSA gates, adding jet ways, and updating the terminal’s restrooms, restaurant, and parking.
The goal is to improve the region’s connectivity and help companies grow their business, attract talent, develop new customers, and improve the quality of supply chains.
The project is expected to enter the bidding process in the coming weeks.
