Water main break prompts boil advisory

A water main break has prompted a boil advisory for part of Vanderburgh County.

Many residents in northern Vanderburgh County woke up to little or no water Tuesday morning because of the main break in the 8900 block of North Kentucky Avenue, near Mt. Pleasant Road.

A crew from the Evansville Water and Sewer Utility repaired the break, and the agency issued a boil advisory.

The advisory covers the area between Highway 41 and State Road 57, north to I-64.

The utility says contamination is unlikely, but customers in the advisory area are urged to boil tap water for at least five minutes before using it for cooking or drinking.

The utility says it will lift the advisory when tests confirm the water is safe.
