Rookie relieved of duty

An Evansville Police officer has been relieved of duty following a crash in Posey County.

Probationary Police Officer Cory Little was arrested after his vehicle ran off St. Wendell Road and hit a garage Sunday morning.

A news release from the EPD says Little failed a series of sobriety tests.

He was arrested with a blood-alcohol level of .09  – just above the legal limit for driving.

Little joined the police department in January, and was in the field training phase of his employment.

He remains on paid leave pending the outcome of a disciplinary hearing before the Police Merit Commission.

The Posey County Prosecutor’s Office will decide whether Little will face any formal charges.
