An Evansville man is charged with reckless driving after a ten-year-old girl was hit by a car while walking to her school bus.
A news release from the Vanderburgh County sheriff’s office says deputies responded to the crash on Oak Hill Hill Road near Eastview Drive just before 8:00 Wednesday morning.
The release says deputies found the girl had been knocked to the ground by a car driven by 35-year-old Micah Hotchkiss.
The sheriff’s office says Hotchkiss disregarded the school bus’s stop arm and flashing lights and struck the girl as she walked across Oak Hill to the stopped bus.
The girl suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment and evaluation.
Hotchkiss was cited for “reckless driving causing bodily injury.”
Authorities say he was released after receiving a court date.
