Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s deputies and Indiana State Police troopers arrested an Evansville man wanted on meth dealing charges following a tense incident Monday.
A release from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s office says they arrested 42-year-old Michael DeWayne Lairy on criminal confinement, drug and firearms charges around 11am after they watched Lairy get in a vehicle driven by a woman near the Haynie’s Corner area in downtown Evansville.
Officers blocked the vehicle, but Lairy would not surrender and tried to drive away. A K-9 officer was used to help arrest Lairy. He was treated for a bite wound at Deaconess Hospital before being taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail. The woman driver of the vehicle complied with officers’ instructions and was not injured in the incident.
