Bayh visits Evansville company as part of comeback tour

John Gibson

Former U.S. Senator Evan Bayh visited Evansville Friday, just hours before he was to be nominated for a new Senate run.

Bayh toured eLuxurySupply on Kotter Avenue, which he called “an example of the American dream.”

The e-commerce company makes and sells bedding, and it’s quickly grown from a start-up to employing 70 workers.

Bayh’s visit came before the Democratic State Committee was to vote to put him on the November ballot, replacing former Congressman Baron Hill as the nominee for the senate seat held by retiring Republican Dan Coats.

Bayh tells WNIN that whether or not Democrats gain control of the Senate, bi-partisanship will be needed.

In the spirit of bi-partisanship, eLuxurySupply hosted the Democrat five months after hosting Republican Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke.

The 60-year-old Bayh retired from the Senate in 2010. He’ll face Republican nominee Todd Young in the November election.
