Supporters have called on Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke to consider the governor’s seat, if Mike Pence becomes Donald Trump’s running mate.
Chief of Staff Steve Schaefer has posted on the Facebook page “Friends of Mayor Winnecke" that Winnecke received such calls over the holiday weekend.
Schaefer says Winnecke is giving those requests their “due consideration.”
But the post says Winnecke has not made any “pro-active efforts” to seek the position of Governor or Lt. Governor.
Schaefer says regardless of the discussions, Mayor Winnecke's primary focus is “doing the job to which he was elected and will always do what is in the best interest of the city of Evansville."
