It’s a hot, humid start to the Shriners Fest and ROMP.
The National Weather Service is warning of heat index values above 100 degrees through Thursday.
Forecasters say festival goers – and anyone spending time outdoors -- should take precautions as high humidity combines with temperatures in the mid-90’s in the shade.
Forecasters warn that exposure to the sun will only amplify the heat.
They remind you to not leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle for any amount of time.
The weather service also recommends keeping plenty of water handy for you and your pets.
You’re also urged to check on neighbors and take advantage of air conditioning as much as possible.
Meantime, the weather service says conditions on Thursday could be even more oppressive than Wednesday.
