Evansville’s new hockey team has released its first schedule.
The Thunderbolts will open their inaugural season on the road October 21st, against the Mississippi River Kings.
The following night, Saturday October 22nd, the Thunderbolts will host Mississippi at the Ford Center.
Evansville’s new team is a member of the Southern Professional Hockey League, and most of their games are scheduled for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
The city signed a deal with the Thunderbolts after Evansville IceMen owner Ron Geary rejected the city’s lease proposals and made a deal with Owensboro officials to move the team there.
The IceMen are taking a year off as their new home – the Owensboro Sports Center – is renovated
The SPHL is a smaller league than the Icemen's ECHL, and is not affiliated with the National Hockey League.
