Many of us can’t imagine life without Facebook. But a local woman took a break from the social media site and found it liberating.

Wendy Bredhold says she decided to log-off Facebook at the beginning of the year, and stayed off the site until this month.

She tells WNIN’s John Gibson that the Facebook “detox” felt good. She says she found a new appreciation for her privacy.

Bredhold also wonders about the future of social media. She says more and more young people are expressing privacy concerns.

Bredhold says her job with the Sierra Club requires her to stay active on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media. But she says she might consider a complete break from social media during a vacation.

Facebook reportedly has 1.59 billion users worldwide.
