Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke is challenging local business leaders to promote the community.
In light of a new downtown convention hotel under construction, Winnecke urged members of the Evansville Rotary Club to promote their city when speaking to anybody about convention or travel plans.
During his State of the City address, Winnecke also proposed ways of spending $25 million in rent money that Tropicana is paying in two portions.
Winnecke suggested road and drainage improvements, developing a land bank to reduce blight and spur development, and investing in “quality of life” projects -- like a new indoor swimming pool, reopening Mesker Amphitheatre, and developing Roberts Park.
Winnecke’s State of the City is the topic of this week’s Trend program, airing at noon Friday and 5:00 Sunday afternoon on WNIN FM.
