Old National buying Wisconsin bank

Old National Bancorp plans to expand into Wisconsin, with its biggest-ever acquisition.

Evansville-based Old National says it’s reached an agreement with Anchor BanCorp of Madison, Wisconsin.

A news release from ONB says the acquisition includes 46 banking centers -- 21 of them in Madison, and others in Milwaukee and Fox Valley.

Old National says Anchor has $2.2 billion in total assets, $1.5 billion in loans, $1.8 billion in deposits, and $360 million in common shareholders equity.

By comparison, ONB had $11.9 billion in total assets and 160 banking centers, as of last fall.

Old National hopes to close the deal in the second quarter of this year.
