Fantasy of Lights struggling

Easter Seals officials say their fundraising light display in Garvin Park is having a rough year.

Large amounts of rain, no snow, and unseasonably warm temperatures have hurt attendance at Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights.

Easter Seals spokeswoman Pam Kirk says rain kept visitors away on weekends, and flooding in Garvin Park kept the display closed on Dec. 23rd.

Last year, the lights attracted more than 12,800 vehicles. The number of vehicles this year is down more than 2,000.

This year's fundraising total is about $9,600 short of previous years.

With less than a week left for the light display, Easter Seals officials are hoping for a surge in visitors.

Fantasy of Lights is open from 5-to-9 p.m. The display is open until 10:00 on New Year's Eve through Jan. 2nd.

Admission is $7 per vehicles containing as many as six people; $10 for vehicles with 7-to-14 people; and $25 for vehicles with 15 people or more.

The money goes to the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center, which serves adults and children with disabilities.
