IN economy created 3,400 jobs in November

Indiana’s jobless rate held steady last month.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development says the private sector added 3,400 jobs in November.

The state’s unemployment rate stayed at 4.4 percent, the lowest level since August 2001.

The agency says construction and trade added 2,800 jobs, while trade, transportations and utilities picked up 2,500 workers.

Manufacturing jobs fell by 3,300.

Workforce Development Commissioner Steven Braun says "Indiana continues to lead the Midwest in labor force growth by a significant amount."

Indiana’s jobless rate is lower than the rates in Kentucky, Illinois, Ohio, and Michigan.
