The Evansville area is one of three Indiana regions to win $42 million in Regional Cities funds.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation is also recommending funding for North Central and Northeast Indiana.
The group was expected to split $84 million between two regions, but decided to award $42 million to three of the seven regions that applied, because extra money was made available through the tax amnesty program.
The decision means that Southwestern Indiana will receive $42 million to help pay for a dozen economic development projects in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey and Gibson counties – so long as the Indiana legislature approves the funding.
