ERC accepts North Main bid, soldier dog program

The Evansville Redevelopment Commission has accepted a $13.5 million bid from Ragle Construction for improvements to North Main Street.

Metro Development Director Kelly Coures tells WNIN that Ragle was the lowest of three bidders for the “complete street” project, and the commission accepted it.

The bid, which would be paid for by tax increment financing, goes before the newly-elected City Council next month.

The upgrade of North Main between the Lloyd and Garvin Park includes streetscape improvements, a protected bicycle lane, and new off-street parking.

Commisioners also approved a plan for the vacant CVS building at North Main and Columbia.

ECHO Executive Director Stephanie Tenbarge says her group would lease the former CVS to a “soldier dogs” program for veterans.

Home Depot plans to donate materials for the renovation.
