Broadcasters and journalists in the Evansville area are remembering a fixture of radio news.
Dave Lyons has died at the age of 59.
Born David Lynott, Lyons was a news anchor and reporter for more than three decades, spending most of his years at WIKY and its sister stations.
Retired WIKY News Director Randy Wheeler tells WNIN that Lyons could put together facts and audio quickly and accurately.
Lyons won numerous Associated Press awards during his years at WIKY.
Wheeler and Lyons grew up in the Chicago area, and they frequently teased each other about baseball. Lyons was a Cubs fan and Wheeler rooted for the White Sox.
Lyons was found dead in his Vanderburgh County home on Sunday. There’s no word on the cause of death.
