A 60-year-old woman died and 23 others were injured after a tire blew out and caused a roll-over wreck on Interstate I-69 on Thursday afternoon .
Gibson County Coroner Barrett wouldn't release the woman's name until her family had been notified. The van carrying 24 passengers was headed on Interstate 69 from the Washington area to AmeriQual. The company confirmed that the 24 passengers worked for the company through a temporary agency and has since released a statement.
"We are deeply saddened by this tragedy, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones. We are still learning more about what happened."
Four patients from the accident have been discharged while four remain in Deaconess Hospital.
St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville received nine patients from the crash with "varying degrees of injuries," said spokesman Randy Capehart told the Evansville Courier & Press.
Gibson General Hospital in Princeton received six patients suffering from headaches, bruises, minor cuts and other injuries, spokesman Jeff Jones said.
