Deaconess Health helps students at NTI

Deaconess is promoting healthy lifestyles for students at Evansville’s New Tech Institute.

The high school, housed inside the Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center, has no gymnasium or regular physical education classes. So, parents and staff asked Deaconess to develop a health program.

Deaconess gave free water bottles to students and staff, installed a “water bottle fountain” to fill and refill them, and will soon introduce students to morning stretching exercises.

Principal Chris Gibson tells WNIN that the students are excited about the initiative.

NTI students took part in some unusual physical contests to launch the health initiative. In one exercise, groups interlocked their hands and arms, became tangled, and had to work together to get free.
